Our office for Hoogly Met Coke & Power Co Ltd is actually located in Kharagpur, though we are closely linked with the Tata Steel operations over in Haldia. You can find us at the Ram Kishun Bari on Kharida Gurudwara Road. We are staying at the C/O address of O.P. Sharma, where Sandeep Sharma and the rest of the small team handle the local coordination. Kharagpur is a busy place, especially around the Gurudwara Road area, so there is always a lot of noise and movement outside. We spend our days managing the bridge between the administrative needs and the actual plant work happening in Haldia. It’s a bit of a commute for some of us, but this spot in West Midnapur serves as a good base. We aren't a big, flashy firm with a lot of marketing people. We are just engineers and coordinators trying to make sure the coke and power supply chains don't hit any snags. The office is pretty basic, just desks and computers and a lot of logbooks. We deal with a lot of technical specifications for Tata Steel, so there’s always something to check or a report to finish. Being in a place like Kharida means we are right in the middle of a real neighborhood, not some isolated industrial park. It keeps us grounded. We focus on getting the job done right so that the bigger operations in Haldia can keep running without any interruptions from our side. It is practical work for us.
