Kharagpur is a place that feels a bit more relaxed than the big cities, and our office at B-409 in the Tata Bearings Housing Complex fits that vibe perfectly. Being out in the Rakhajungle area means we are surrounded by a lot of greenery and trees, which is a nice change of pace for us. We work for Tata Steel Ltd. from this location, but since it is situated inside a housing complex, it feels more like a home than a stiff corporate environment. We have set up our desks in a way that makes sense for the three or four of us who are here every day. The walk to the local post office is short, and we are often back and forth with different documents. The weather in this part of West Bengal gets very humid, so we are always thankful for the shade around the building. We do not have a big sign out front or a fancy lobby to impress people. Most folks who need to find us already know exactly where B-409 is located. We focus on our daily tasks, mostly dealing with the local bearing operations and making sure the paperwork is filed correctly. Sometimes the internet slows down when it rains hard, but we just use that time to organize the office or catch up on old files. It is a quiet, practical life here and we enjoy the simplicity of it.
