Raj Farmer Welfare And Agro Marketing Producer Company Limited is based at Sarai Mohiuddinpur in Shahganj, at the home of Vinod Kumar. We started this company because we saw a need for better marketing for our local farmers. Usually, farmers grow their crops and then struggle to find a good place to sell them. We wanted to change that by working together as a group. It’s a lot of work coordinating between all the different members and the buyers. Vinod’s place is usually full of people coming and going, talking about market rates and transportation. We don't have a big staff, so we all chip in with whatever needs doing. Sometimes that’s filling out forms, and other times it’s loading up trucks. It’s a practical business built on the reality of life in Shahganj. We aren't trying to be some massive corporation. We just want the farmers here to get what they deserve for their hard work. There are plenty of days when things go wrong—a truck breaks down or the prices suddenly drop. We just deal with it as it comes. We’ve learned to be flexible. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. If you’re ever in Sarai Mohiuddinpur, you’ll probably see us sitting around a table trying to figure out the next week’s schedule. We just take things as they are and try to make them a little better for the people around here. That’s about it for us.
