Sophia Public School

We started Sophia Public School a while back on Main Raya Sadabad Road. It is right there in Raya, Mathura. The traffic out front gets pretty heavy in the mornings when the buses come in and the rickshaws are honking. Most of the kids live nearby in the town. We have rooms for different grades, though they are not very large. It is not a fancy place, just a regular school where everyone knows each other's names. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon and we just have to open all the windows to get a breeze. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint by now, but the desks are sturdy and that is what matters. We keep a small garden in the corner which the kids help with sometimes. The teachers either walk to work or come in on their scooters. It is a busy spot in Mathura. Parents often stop by to chat about their kids while they are out for groceries. We try to keep the playground area clean, though the dust from the main road makes it a bit of a losing battle. Every year we see the same families coming through. It feels like a small community here in Raya. We do not have a big fancy office, just a simple desk near the front door. There is an old bell we ring for the lunch break. It gets loud when the kids are out, you can hear them clear down the street.
