Being located on Payyanangadi Thangals Road means we see a lot of the Malapuram bustle every single day. The agency is tucked away here, and most of the time, it’s just the sound of the ceiling fan and the occasional motorbike zooming past outside. We’ve got a lot of files stacked up on the side tables because things tend to pile up when you’re dealing with all the paperwork that comes through. It isn’t a large space, but it fits what we need. Most of our mornings are spent catching up on what happened the day before. The light comes in through the front window in a way that makes the room quite warm by noon, so we usually keep the blinds halfway down. People in Malapuram know this stretch of road well, and we’ve become part of the scenery over the years. We aren’t doing anything revolutionary, just handling the daily tasks and making sure the records are kept straight. It’s a lot of sitting at the desks and making calls. Sometimes the tea man comes by twice if we’re having a long afternoon. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. If someone asks for a specific document, we usually have to dig through a couple of drawers, but we find it eventually. It is just a regular workplace with regular people doing what they can to keep the office running properly.
