Evoke Designs

Our daily work happens at 59/4 on Pandikkad Road in Manjeri. It’s a busy stretch of road in the Malappuram area. Evoke Designs is basically just a small workshop and office space where we spend most of our waking hours. The road outside is always full of motorcycles and trucks, so there is a constant background noise of engines and horns. We’ve gotten so used to it that we hardly notice anymore. Inside, the space is filled with whatever project we are currently working on. There are usually scraps of material and sketches lying around on the tables. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a coffee machine that makes espresso. We just have a kettle and some local tea. It’s a practical place for practical people. Most of us come from around this area, so we know the local styles and what people like. We don't spend money on expensive decor for the office because we'd rather use that for better tools. The lighting isn't the best, but we make do with what we have. Sometimes it gets a bit hot in the afternoons, but we just open the back door and keep working. It’s a straightforward business. We don’t use a lot of big words or complicated processes. We just listen to what’s needed and try to get it done without too much fuss. It’s a busy life on Pandikkad Road and we just keep pushing through.
