Dhimri Innovative Kisan Producer Company Limited is based out of Dhimri village, not too far from the Bhauwa Bazar in Bhadpura. Pushpa Devi, Veerpal’s wife, is the one who looks after the place and keeps everything running. It’s a straightforward setup where we handle the business of the local farmers. Being near the bazaar is helpful because there’s always people moving around and news about the current prices for crops. We don't have a big office with air conditioning or anything like that; it’s just a room with some basic furniture and some ledgers. We spend our time figuring out how to get the crops sold and making sure everyone gets their fair share of the money at the end of the day. Pushpa Devi is good at keeping things organized, which is important because things can get pretty confusing when you have so many different farmers involved in the group. We talk about the rain, the seeds, and the state of the roads almost every single day. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know. The company was started to give us a bit more leverage with the buyers, but we still feel like the same small-scale farmers we’ve always been.
