Emmanuel Mission School

Our school is out in Vill. Kanaid, which is just a bit away from the main part of Sunder Nagar in Mandi. It’s a quiet area compared to the city. The building is solid and has seen many years of students passing through the doors. We have classrooms spread across two floors. Outside, you can see the hills, which is a nice view during the lunch hour. The playground is mostly dirt and grass where the boys play football when the weather allows it. We have a small staff that has been here for years. They know the siblings of the current students because they taught them too. Inside, the walls are covered with charts about anatomy and geography. The desks have some scratches on them from years of use. It’s a practical place. We don't have air conditioning, just ceiling fans that hum all day in the summer. When it rains in Mandi, the sound on the roof is quite loud. We usually have a tea break around eleven for the teachers. Parents come by on their bikes to pick up their kids. It’s just a normal routine here in the village. No one is trying to be fancy or modern. We just open the gates and start the day. There is a small storage room for the sports gear like bats and balls. It works for us and the local families.
