Him Rashmi Public School

We are situated along Pahankot Road in Mandi, specifically at Society No 02/2002. Him Rashmi Public School started out quite small and we’ve just stayed here doing our thing ever since. Mandi is a beautiful place, and our school sits in a spot where you can see the surroundings quite well. We aren’t a fancy institution with a lot of polish or shiny signs. Our classrooms have wooden desks and blackboards, and we like it that way. It feels more real and comfortable. The road outside can be busy with trucks and travelers heading further into the mountains, but we are used to the noise by now. Our students come from the nearby houses and some travel a bit from the outskirts of the town. We don't have a big corporate office; the principal's room is just a small office with files stacked up and some old photos. We try to keep the grounds clean, but with kids running around, there’s always a little mess to clean up. It’s a place where we know the names of all the siblings and where they live. We don't make big promises, we just show up every day and teach the lessons. If a bench breaks, one of us usually fixes it. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We’ve been a part of the Mandi landscape for years and we just keep at it as best as we can.
