Martyer Jagdishchand Memorial Public School

Our school is tucked away in Leda, which is part of the Sadar Tehsil in Mandi. It’s named Martyer Jagdishchand Memorial Public School. Most people around here just call it the local school. We’ve been here for a bit now, serving the families in the BPO Leda area. The morning starts early here with kids walking in from the surrounding fields. It’s a quiet part of the district, so you don't hear much besides the school bell and the kids shouting during recess. We have a few rooms and a small area where they gather for morning assembly. It’s not a big corporate setup. It’s just us teachers and the staff trying to keep things running. The winters in Mandi get chilly, so we have to make sure the kids are bundled up in their sweaters. We don’t have big flashy advertisements or anything like that. Word usually gets around by talk. If a kid does well, the whole village knows. We focus on the basics, like reading and math, and making sure everyone follows the rules. The building has seen many seasons and we fix things as they break. Sometimes the power goes out, but we just carry on with the lessons. It’s a steady life here in Leda. We just want the kids to learn what they need to know before they head off to the bigger towns for further studies. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we take it day by day.
