We are out at the Sidco Industrial Estate in Kappalur, specifically Shed No. Bs 11. It’s a big estate and it can be easy to get lost if you don't know the shed numbers. Our space is basically one large room with a high roof. It gets really hot in the summer under the metal sheets, so we keep the big fans going all the time. We manufacture different things depending on what the orders are for. There’s always the sound of metal clanging or something being loaded onto a pallet. We have a small group of workers who have been with us since we moved to Kappalur. We eat our lunch together in the small shade outside. It’s a practical setup. We don't have a front desk or a receptionist. If you come by, you just walk in and find someone who isn't too busy to talk. The floors are stained with all sorts of things from years of work. We try to keep things moving as smoothly as we can, but industrial work always has its hiccups. Machines break or the materials arrive late. We just deal with it as it comes. It’s not a glamorous job, but we take a bit of pride in finishing a big batch of products. We pack them up, label them, and wait for the truck to take them away. That is basically what happens here every single day of the week.
