Prakash Cottage Industries

You can find us at 54 N.S. Konar Street in the Jaihindpuram area. It is a busy part of Madurai with lots of narrow lanes and people moving about. At Prakash Cottage Industries, things move at a very steady and quiet pace. We are not trying to be some giant factory. We are just a small setup where we do most things by hand or with simple machines. The building we are in is older and it stays quite warm during the summer months. We have fans going all day but it still gets hot inside. We do a lot of small-scale production here. My father was the one who started this and now we just keep it going as best as we can. There are always piles of raw materials in the corner and finished goods waiting to be picked up. The street outside is usually full of bikes and people walking to the local market. We know almost everyone who lives and works on this block. It is the kind of place where you can stop for a chat while you are working. We do not have a fancy website or a sales team. If someone wants what we make, they usually just show up or send us a message. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon so we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back.
