Arun Bakery

Arun Bakery is right in the Lakshmi Complex in Anna Nagar. If you are around this part of Chennai, you probably know the building. It is always a bit busy with people coming in and out of the various shops. We start quite early, often before the sun is even fully up, to get things ready for the morning crowd. The air in the shop usually smells like flour and whatever is in the oven at the time. It can get pretty hot in the back where the baking happens, especially in the middle of the day. We do not have a massive staff, just a few of us who have been working together for a while now. We know most of the regulars by their names or at least by what they usually buy. Anna Nagar is a good spot for us because there is always someone walking by. Lakshmi Complex isn't the newest place around, but it is home for us. We spend a lot of time cleaning counters and restocking shelves. Sometimes we run out of things faster than we expected, and other times it is quiet enough to have a long chat over coffee. Arun Bakery is not a chain or anything like that. It is just our little place where we work hard and hope people enjoy what they get. We keep the floor swept and the lights on, and that is about it for our daily routine. We are just here doing our thing.
