A.M. Ahmed & Co. has its place at 185, East Masi Street. If you know this street, you know it’s one of the busiest and oldest parts of the city. There’s constant movement, cycles, and people everywhere. Our shop is right in the thick of it. We’ve been part of this street for many years. It’s a narrow building, typical of the architecture here, but it’s got a lot of character. We deal in various goods, mostly trading things that local people and other businesses need. It’s a lot of face-to-face interaction. People walk in, ask for what they want, and we see if we can get it for them if it’s not on the shelf. The walls are lined with ledgers and old wooden cupboards. It doesn't look like a modern retail store, and we like it that way. It’s got a history to it. We don't spend anything on advertising. We don’t even have a proper sign sometimes, but everyone in the neighborhood knows where A.M. Ahmed & Co. is. We open early in the morning and close when the street starts to quiet down at night. It’s hard work being on your feet most of the day, but it’s what we do. We’ve seen generations of customers come through these doors. It’s more about the relationships we’ve built than anything else. There is always someone stopping by for a chat or to check on an order.
