Yadav Karyana

Yadav Karyana is situated in the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Mkt in Ludhiana. Being in a market area means it’s always lively around here. There are other shops selling clothes and electronics nearby, but we stick to the karyana business. That means grains, oils, sugars, and all the dry goods. The 141001 area is a central part of Ludhiana, so it’s always humming with activity. We have big metal bins for the different types of rice and lentils. People often come in to buy in bulk, especially during the festival seasons. The floor is made of old stone, and it’s seen a lot of feet over the years. We have a small stool behind the counter where we sit when there are no customers. Most of the time, though, we are on our feet, weighing out portions or stacking boxes that just arrived. The walls are lined with various brands of tea and biscuits. We don't do much advertising; people just know we are here because we've been in the market for a long time. Sometimes the fans don't work properly and it gets a bit stuffy, but we just open the front wide to let the air in. It’s a very practical life. We see the same delivery guys every week and know the local rickshaw drivers who stop for a cold drink. It’s just the way the market works, and we are happy to be a part of it. We keep things moving and make sure the items are ready.
