Vipan General Store

Vipan General Store is located in the middle of Sadar Bazar in Ludhiana. If you know this area, you know how busy it gets with the wholesale markets and all the narrow lanes. Our shop is just one of many, but we’ve got our regular crowd. We keep all sorts of things, from snacks to cleaning supplies. There’s always a lot of noise outside from the loaders and the carts moving through the market. Inside, it’s mostly just me or one of the boys looking after the customers. We don’t really bother with big signs or flashy lights. People find us because they’ve been coming here for a long time. The shelves are mostly packed tight because there’s never enough space for everything we want to keep. Sometimes it’s a bit of a squeeze when three or four people come in at once. We usually have tea around four in the afternoon when things quiet down for a bit. It’s a lot of work keeping track of what’s running out, especially with the festive seasons when everyone wants the same things. We try to keep things organized but it doesn’t always stay that way by the end of the day. Ludhiana is a fast city, so people are usually in a hurry. We just hand over the change and get the next person’s list ready as quickly as we can manage. We don't have fancy systems here.
