Verma General Store

Down in Chander Nagar, Ludhiana, we run this general store that caters to a bit of everything. It is a small space, but we try to fit in as much as we can on the shelves. You will find school supplies, small toys for the neighborhood kids, and all the usual household items like soaps and detergents. The shop is located in a busy lane where people are always walking by on their way to the market or home. We have a small counter where we sit, usually surrounded by jars of candies and small snacks that the children like. It is a bit disorganized at times because new stock arrives and we have to find a place for it right away. The walls are covered with posters from various brands, and we have a small television in the corner to keep us company during the slow afternoon hours. Ludhiana winters can be cold, so we usually have a small heater going, and in the summer, the door stays wide open to catch any breeze. We don't have a big team or any corporate strategy. It is just a family-run place where we know the local gossip and see the same faces every day. People stop by not just to buy things, but sometimes just to say hello while they are out running errands. It is a noisy, lively, and very normal part of the city life. We usually stay open until the street lights come on.
