Sonu Monu General Store

Our shop is located at 8361/4 in Kot Mangal Singh, which is a busy spot in Ludhiana. The shop is named Sonu Monu after the family, and we have been here for many years. We keep a bit of everything, from basic kitchen groceries to things like pens and notebooks for the local school kids. It is a small space, so we have built shelves all the way up to the ceiling to fit everything in. If someone needs something from the very top, we have to pull out a ladder, which can be a bit of a task when the shop is full. The neighborhood is always moving, so there is usually someone popping in to get a phone recharge or a packet of biscuits. We are not trying to be a fancy mall; we just want to make sure the people living nearby have what they need for their homes. Sometimes the delivery trucks get stuck in traffic and we run out of things, which is frustrating but happens. We work long hours and start our day before the sun is even fully up. It is just the two of us working here, so we know most of our customers well. We know who likes which brand of soap or tea. That makes the work feel more like we are just helping out neighbors.
