Shree Ram Karyana

Shree Ram Karyana is tucked away near Chanovi Chowk in the Salem Tabri area. I have been working at this spot for a very long time now. Ludhiana is a city that never really stops moving, and this corner of Salem Tabri is no different from the rest of the town. My shop at number 33 is where I spend most of my waking hours during the week. It is a standard karyana store where we sell things like flour, pulses, spices, and other daily necessities for the home. The bags of grain are quite heavy, and moving them around every morning is a real workout. I keep everything organized in my own way, though a stranger might think the shelves look a bit messy. There is always a lingering smell of roasted spices and laundry soap in the air here. I don't use any fancy marketing or signs to get people in. People know where I am and they know I usually have what they need for their kitchen. Sometimes kids come in with a few coins for some candy, and I have to dig through the big glass jars to find exactly what they want. The ceiling is quite high, so I have to use a long wooden stick to reach the items kept on the very top shelves. It is a bit of a trick to get things down without dropping them. I try to keep things simple.
