Sardar Kiryana Store

If you walk down Gali No. 2 in Akash Nagar, you will find Sardar Kiryana Store at Shop No. 108. We are quite close to Holiday Public School, so when the bells ring, we usually get a bunch of kids coming in for biscuits or pens. Ludhiana can get really cold in the winter, and we spend those mornings drinking tea and waiting for the first customers to show up. The shop is small, but we keep it organized as best as we can. We have lentils, oils, and all the basics people need for their kitchens. Sometimes a customer will ask for something we don't have, and I have to remember to tell the supplier the next time he comes around with his truck. My family lives nearby, so we are always in and out of the shop. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the school traffic in the afternoon. The shelves are wooden and old, but they hold everything just fine. We don't really bother with big sales or promotions, just regular prices for the neighbors. Sometimes the lights flicker when the power is low, but we have a small battery to keep the bulb going over the counter. It’s just a local place where everyone knows everyone else’s name. We’ve been here long enough that the kids who used to come for candy are now coming in to buy groceries for their own homes. It’s nice to see them grow up.
