Don't ask me why it is a half street, that is just how the colony was planned years ago. We run the hosiery business out of the house, so it is a very local, family-style operation. The machines make a steady humming sound most of the day, which the neighbors are used to by now. We make all sorts of knit items and hosiery goods. There are threads and bits of fabric all over the place, no matter how much we sweep up. It is a busy street with kids playing and bikes zooming past, so getting a delivery van in here can be a real headache sometimes. We have to time it just right. Most of the people who work here live just a few streets away, so it feels more like a big family than a company. We eat lunch together and complain about the heat when the monsoon is late.
