Royal Food & Confectionary

Royal Food & Confectionary is our shop located on Bahuchraji Road in Janta Nagar. Despite the name sounding a bit grand, we are actually just a small neighborhood store filled with jars of sweets and packets of snacks. We spend a lot of our day sitting behind the glass counter waiting for the next customer to walk through the door. The jars are filled with all sorts of colorful candies that the local kids love to stare at when they come in. We have to wipe the glass down constantly because of all the little fingerprints that get left behind. The shop can get quite warm in the afternoon sun, so we tend to move a bit slower during those hours. We keep the fridge stocked with cold drinks, but sometimes the power cuts out and we have to keep the door shut tight to keep the cold in. Janta Nagar is a lively place, and Bahuchraji Road is always busy with scooters and cars. We hear the honking all day long, but we don't really notice it anymore after all these years. We get our supplies from a few different distributors who come by once a week. Sometimes they bring new things for us to try selling, and we just find a small spot for them on the counter. We don't use a computer for our accounts, we just write everything down in a thick book we keep under the register. It’s a simple way to run things, and it has worked for us for a long time now.
