Sareen Knitwear

Our place is tucked away at No. 223 in Ranjit Singh Park. It's actually right behind Shingar Cinema, which is usually the landmark people use to get here. We work with knitwear, so the space is mostly filled with yarns and machines. It’s not a quiet place because there’s always something running. We started out with just a couple of machines and grew a bit over time. The walls are a plain color and we have piles of sweaters and cardigans waiting to be packed. It gets really busy when the weather starts to turn cold. We don't really have a showroom. It’s more of a workshop where the actual making happens. Sometimes the dust from the wool gets everywhere, but we clean up every evening. It’s a family-run kind of vibe. We know the guys at the cinema and the other shops nearby. We don’t spend much on decorations because we’re focused on the knitting. It’s a straightforward business. We just make the stuff and send it out. Some days are long, especially when we have big orders. We usually have a radio playing in the background to keep things lively. It’s just a honest day's work for us behind the big screen. We like being in this part of the neighborhood where things are a bit more relaxed than the busy main road.
