Ranauta Sons Machinery Works is situated at 9121/1 on Street Number 34, right off the main Gill Road in Kot Mangal Singh. It’s a neighborhood where everyone seems to be making something. We focus on machinery parts and repairs. The shop is usually humming with the sound of lathes and grinders. It’s a family-run kind of thing, passed down through the years. We don't have a fancy front office with a secretary. You just walk in and find one of us near the machines. The walls are covered in old calendars and charts for thread sizes. It’s a bit of a maze with all the metal scraps and half-done jobs lying around. We take on all sorts of work, from small repairs to making bigger components for local shops. Sometimes a job takes longer than we thought because a tool breaks or the power goes out, which happens more than I’d like. We just keep at it until it's done right. We aren't much for talking, mostly we just focus on the task at hand. If someone comes in with a problem, we look at it together and figure out a way to fix it. It’s a practical way to spend the day, working with your hands and making things that actually do something. That is what we have always done and likely what we will keep doing.
