Rama Karyana Store

Rama Karyana Store is situated in New Shivpuri Market, right on Street Number 2. If you are near the Radhey Shyam Mandir, you are basically right there. This is a traditional karyana shop where we sell pulses, rice, spices, and all the stuff people need for their kitchens. The smell of open sacks of grain is always in the air here. We spend a lot of time weighing out portions on the scales and tying up bags with twine. It’s a bit of a dusty job, but it’s what we do. The market can be a bit chaotic with carts and bikes, but our corner stays relatively organized. We’ve been in New Shiv Puri for a long time, so we know most of the customers by name. It’s not just about selling things; it’s about being part of the local community. Sometimes the delivery guys are late and we have to tell people to come back later in the evening. We don't have air conditioning, just a big pedestal fan that keeps the air moving. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy for that right now. We keep the registers simple and the interactions honest. If someone is short a few rupees, they usually pay us back the next time. That’s just how things work in a neighborhood like this. We’re open most days unless there’s a big festival at the mandir. It’s a lot of work hauling the big bags of sugar from the truck, but it keeps us fit.
