Ram Nath General Store

Running the Ram Nath General Store on Bagh Wali Street is what we do every day. Being here in Bagh Khazanchian, Ludhiana, you get used to the narrow lanes and the constant noise of scooters passing by. The shop is at number 8, and it’s a small space packed with all kinds of stuff from floor to ceiling. I spend a lot of my time climbing up the ladder to reach boxes of soap or snacks that got pushed to the top. It’s not a polished place, and the paint on the walls has seen better days, but it works for what we need. People from around the neighborhood stop in for small things they forgot at the bigger market. Ludhiana 141008 is a crowded area, so there is always someone knocking on the door even before we are fully open. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. Most of our stock is just piled up where it fits. Sometimes we run out of space and have to leave crates out near the entrance. It’s a bit of a mess, but we know where everything is. My hands are usually a bit dirty from handling the cardboard boxes all morning. We just keep the doors open and wait for the regulars to come by and chat while they get what they need. It’s just a normal general store doing what we’ve always done on this street.
