Pitambara Apparels Private Limited is set up in GRD Nagar, which is right near the Central Jail on Tajpur Road. It’s a very industrial part of the city, so you see a lot of trucks and workers moving around all the time. The road can get pretty dusty and the traffic is often a mess, but this is where the work happens. We focus on making clothes and managing the apparel side of things from our unit here. It’s a big space because we need room for the machines and the fabric rolls. On a typical day, it’s quite noisy with the sound of the equipment and people shouting to be heard. We don’t have a fancy reception area or air conditioning in every corner. It’s a working factory environment where the goal is just to get the items finished and packed. Most of us here have grown up around this part of town, so we are used to the grit. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the afternoon slump. There’s no big philosophy behind what we do; we just take orders and try to make them as well as we can. When the day ends, the gates close and we do it all again the next morning. It’s honest work in a tough part of the neighborhood, and that suits us just fine.
