Narinder Karyana Store

Ludhiana is a busy place, and our little corner in Abdullapur Basti on Link Road is no different. The shop is officially Narinder Karyana Store, though most people just know us by sight. We focus on the karyana side of things, so it’s mostly food supplies like lentils, sugar, and flour. We get the big sacks delivered and then we spend time weighing things out into smaller portions for the neighbors. The smell of raw grains and spices is always in the air here. It’s a very local vibe; we see the same families every week. Sometimes the kids come in with a few coins for some sweets after they finish school nearby. The shop has high ceilings but the shelves go all the way up, so it feels a bit like a cave of jars and boxes. We have a small bench outside where some of the older men sit and talk for a bit. The Link Road traffic is always humming in the background, a constant sound of engines and horns. We don't do anything special, just keep the doors open and make sure we don't run out of the basics. If someone needs a particular type of cooking oil, we try to have it ready. The floor is concrete and we sweep it out three times a day to keep the dust down from the road. It is just honest, daily work for us. We stay open until the evening rush finally dies down.
