New Rangila Knitwears

Down in Mohalla Saidan at B-Iii-680, you’ll find us working away at New Rangila Knitwears. The building has been there for years and we’ve occupied this floor for quite some time. It’s full of knitting machines that hum all day long. Sometimes the sound is so loud we have to shout to hear each other, but we’ve gotten good at reading hand signals. We make sweaters and cardigans and other knit stuff. It’s a messy job with yarn bits and fluff everywhere, no matter how much we sweep. We aren't a big brand you’d see on a billboard. We just make solid clothes for the winter season and sell them to local shops. My cousin handles the machines and I look after the packing and the accounts. We don’t have a website or any of that stuff. People just know where we are and they drop by when they need stock. During the busy season, we stay late into the night, drinking tea and making sure the needles don’t snag. It gets cold in the workshop during January, which is ironic since we make warm clothes, but we just wear our own samples. We’ve had some of the same workers for over ten years now. They are like family to us. We just try to do a good job so the customers don't complain and we can keep the doors open for another year. It's how things go.
