Meera & Co. Ltd. is located right on the G.T. Road, specifically at 188/5, Sherpur Bye Pass. Being near the bypass means there are always trucks going by and a lot of dust from the road. Our building is a solid one, built to handle the heavy equipment we deal with. We don’t have any fancy signs or neon lights. People who need us usually know exactly where the Sherpur turn is. The workshop area is where most of the noise happens. There is always someone clanking a wrench or testing an engine. It gets hot in the summer, so we keep the big doors open to catch whatever breeze comes off the road. We’ve been here for years. The staff is mostly local guys who have been with us for a long time. We handle a lot of mechanical stuff, mostly related to power and engines. The office is tucked away in the front, where we keep the ledgers and the phones. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. We don’t really do much advertising; the work speaks for itself when someone’s machinery starts running again. Lunch break is usually a quiet time when everyone sits around the shaded area out back. Then it’s back to the grease and the metalwork until the sun goes down. It’s a steady life on the G.T. Road, watching the traffic and fixing things.
