Malhotra General Stores

Civil Line Nagpur Chal. This is our general store. It’s been here for years. We have a lot of stuff packed onto the shelves. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough room for the customers to stand. We sell soap, rice, lentils, and school supplies for the kids. My wife helps me out in the afternoons. Nagpur gets very warm, so the ceiling fan is always on high. It makes a lot of noise, but we are used to it. We don't have a fancy computer for the billing. We just use a notebook and a pen. It works fine for us. Sometimes people come in just to ask for directions since we are on a corner. We don't mind. We try to stock everything the neighbors might need so they don't have to go all the way to the big market. If we don't have a specific brand of tea, we usually have something else that’s just as good. The delivery trucks come twice a week and block the road for a bit. It’s a bit of a mess then. We aren't looking to expand or anything. This one shop is enough work as it is. We know everyone’s name and what they usually buy. It’s just a normal neighborhood store.
