Makhan General Store

Makhan General Store is tucked away in Gali Number 5 over in Anand Pura Mohalla. If you know where the Dogra Chicken Shop is, we are right near that part of New Subhash Nagar. Ludhiana is a crowded city and our lane is no different. We’ve been here in this spot for quite a bit. The shop is small but we cram a lot of stuff inside. Mostly it's things like tea, sugar, and household bits. I usually start the day by sweeping the front step. The neighbors are always passing by and saying hello. It’s a very local vibe here. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late because the trucks struggle with the narrow streets. I spend my afternoons checking the jars and making sure nothing is expired. It’s not a polished place. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint if I ever found the time. We have a lot of regular families who send their kids over to pick up things their moms forgot for dinner. I keep a little notebook for the accounts, old school style. It’s better than a computer for me. The noise from Chaura Bazar isn't too far off but our street is a bit more tucked in. We stay open until the sun goes down and then some. It’s just what we do every day. Nothing too complicated or fancy. Just a shop in a busy street where people can get what they need.
