Nayar Knitwear

We are located on Street No. 3 in Madhopuri. It’s an area known for this kind of work, so we fit right in with the rest of the neighborhood. Our building is mostly filled with the sound of knitting machines and the smell of fresh wool. When winter is coming, we are incredibly busy, often staying late into the night to finish off batches of sweaters or scarves. The floor is usually covered in bits of yarn and lint, which is just part of the job. We have shelves stacked high with different colors of thread, and it can look a bit chaotic to someone walking in for the first time. We handle the machines ourselves, making sure they don’t jam or break down, which happens more often than we’d like. It’s a noisy place, and you have to raise your voice to be heard over the clicking of the needles. We don’t have a fancy front office; the workspace is where everything happens. Sometimes we sit out on the steps for a break when the sun is out, just to get some fresh air. The people around here have been doing this for generations, so there’s a lot of shared knowledge on the street. We just keep our heads down, watch the patterns, and make sure the boxes are ready for the trucks. It’s what we know how to do.
