We are tucked away in New Janta Nagar, on the corner of Street Number 2 and 3, at 427/1. It is a typical industrial street where everyone is making something out of metal. Our shop is full of lathe machines and drills that have seen a lot of use over the years. There is always a layer of metal shavings on the floor and the smell of cutting oil in the air. We take on all kinds of small engineering jobs, mostly turning parts or fixing bits of machinery that people bring in from other shops. It is precise work but the environment is quite rough. We don't bother much with painting the walls or making it look nice because it would just get dirty again in a week. Most of the time, we are busy measuring things with calipers and making sure the threads are cut just right. If a machine breaks down, we have to fix it ourselves so we don't lose time on the current job. It is just me and a couple of guys working through the pile of orders we have. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the longer cuts to finish on the machines. It is a steady way to spend the day, even if it is loud and greasy most of the time. We try to keep the street outside clear but it is hard.
