Abhay Apparels

Our place is at Plot No. 94 on Street No. 2 in Lajpat Nagar. It’s off Noorwala Road and quite close to Shivpuri Chowk. If you’ve ever walked down this street, you know it’s mostly small businesses and houses mixed together. We focus on making apparels, so there is always a lot of cotton and synthetic fabric lying around. The rooms are filled with the sound of machines and people talking over the noise. We started out with just a couple of machines and slowly added a few more as the years went by. It’s not a big factory, just a local spot where we make sure the clothes are put together properly. The lighting inside isn't the best, but we have some big lamps over the cutting tables so we can see what we are doing. Near the entrance, we keep some of the finished stock in big plastic bags ready to be moved. It’s a bit of a squeeze when the delivery truck comes into the narrow street, but we make it work somehow. We drink a lot of chai during the day to keep going, and usually, the radio is playing somewhere in the background. It’s just a steady routine of measuring, cutting, and stitching. We don’t have any big signs, just the work we do every day. It's a bit messy, but that's how we know we are actually getting things done.
