Laddu Patang & General Store

Laddu Patang & General Store is a bit of a unique place located at 742/1 in the Trunk Bazaar area of Ludhiana. The name tells you exactly what we are about. During the kite season, the shop is absolutely full of colorful patangs and rolls of thread. It’s a very busy time and the whole place smells like paper and glue. When it isn't kite season, we function more like a regular general store, selling all the everyday things the people in Trunk Bazaar need. The bazaar itself is a very old and crowded place, and our shop fits right into that atmosphere. There are boxes stacked everywhere, and sometimes you have to move one thing just to see what's behind it. We have been here for years, and we’ve seen the bazaar change quite a bit, but the way we run the shop is still pretty much the same. We use old-style scales for some things and keep everything in glass jars or cardboard boxes. It’s a bit chaotic during the peak times, with kids coming in for kites and adults looking for household items, but we enjoy the energy of it. It’s a real local business where we know the stories of the people who walk through the door. We just keep doing our thing, selling kites and whatever else is needed, season after season.
