International Knitwears

Down at Kashmir Nagar on Street Number 2, you’ll find our building at number 1217. We are right off Gowshalla Road, which is always packed with cycles and carts. International Knitwears is basically a second home for most of us because of the hours we put in here. The space is filled with the sound of work—mostly the clatter of the machinery and the sound of people moving heavy bags of finished goods. We handle a lot of knitwear, so there are piles of soft material everywhere you look. In the winter it’s not so bad, but in the summer the heat can be a real struggle inside these walls. We have a few big fans but they mostly just move the warm air around. We don’t have a fancy showroom. If you come by, you’ll just see us in our work clothes, probably sorting through different batches or checking the packing lists. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, really. We rely a lot on knowing each other’s rhythms to get the big orders out on time. Sometimes the shipments get delayed because the road outside is blocked, but we just wait it out. It’s a bit chaotic at times with all the different colors and sizes mixed up on the tables, but we eventually get it all straightened out before the day ends. We just keep our heads down and work.
