Kajal Karyana Stores

Daba Road 5 is where you’ll find Kajal Karyana Stores. It’s right near the main flow of traffic, so there’s always a bit of noise from the bikes and trucks passing by. I usually get here around eight to start moving the crates around. Some days it feels like all I do is lift heavy bags of rice, but that’s just how it goes when you run a grocery shop. The shelves are packed tight because the space isn't huge, so you have to be careful when pulling something from the back. We have the usual things, like cooking oil, salt, and some snacks for the kids who stop by after school. The light in the back of the shop flickers sometimes, and I keep saying I’ll fix it, but then a customer comes in and I forget again. It’s a simple setup. We don't have those fancy scanners; it’s mostly just looking at the price and writing it down in a book. My brother helps out when things get crowded, especially on weekends when everyone seems to run out of sugar at the same time. We’ve seen kids grow up around here, coming in for candy and then years later coming in for their own households. It’s just how the neighborhood works. The shop is dusty, the air smells like roasted cumin most of the time, and we just keep the doors open as long as people keep showing up.
