Jaspreet Karyana Store

Our shop is tucked away at 1057/4 in Millerganj, right near the Dhuri Line. If you live in Ludhiana, you know how busy this area gets with all the transport and movement. Running a karyana store means we are surrounded by bags of rice, pulses, and sugar all day long. It is a lot of lifting and moving stuff around, especially when the new stock arrives on the trucks. We try to keep everything people need for their daily cooking, like spices, oils, and those little packets of tea. It is not a supermarket where you take a trolley; it is more about us handing you what you need across the wooden counter. The sound of the trains nearby is something we have just gotten used to over the years. Some days it is just one person asking for a kilo of salt, and other times there is a whole list of monthly groceries to pack. We write everything down in the old way sometimes because it is faster for us. The floor usually has a bit of spilled flour on it no matter how much we sweep. It is a tight space with stuff stacked up to the ceiling, but we know where everything is hidden. Customers come in, complain about the prices of onions, and we just listen while we weigh the goods. It is just a regular shop for regular people who live around Millerganj. That is all there is to it.
