Our work happens at Jain Udhay Apparels Pvt. Ltd., which is spread across units 36, 37, and 38 in Sunder Nagar. Having these units side by side makes it easier to manage the different stages of making clothes. It is a very noisy environment because of all the industrial sewing machines running at the same time. You can't really have a quiet conversation on the factory floor. The floor is always covered in bits of colorful thread and small scraps of cloth that we sweep up at the end of the shift. We have a lot of people working here, and everyone has a specific job to do. Some are cutting the fabric while others are stitching or checking for loose threads. The office is just a small room partitioned off from the main area. It has a big glass window so we can see what is happening outside. We spend a good chunk of the day looking at production schedules and talking to the supervisors. Sunder Nagar is a busy hub for this kind of work, so there are always delivery trucks waiting in the lane. We don't bother with fancy decor or comfortable sofas for guests. Most of our space is dedicated to the machines and the storage of raw materials. It is a lot of repetitive work, but we are used to the rhythm of the needles and the sound of the steam irons. We just keep going until the day's quota is met. That is the way we run things here in the factory.
