Walking into 375 Industrial Area- A, you’ll usually hear the sound of the machines before you even open the door. We’ve been running Kalwant Hosiery Mills from this same spot for years. It’s a busy corner of the industrial area. There is always someone dropping off yarn or picking up finished bundles. The floor is usually covered in bits of thread, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just part of the job when you’re making socks and undergarments all day long. Some of our workers have been with us since the beginning, and they can probably run those machines with their eyes closed by now. We don’t spend much time on fancy decorations or making the front office look perfect. Most of the space is taken up by the knitting units and the packing tables. During the summer, it gets pretty hot inside, so we keep the fans going full blast. It’s a straightforward kind of life here. We make what people need, check the quality by hand, and stack the boxes. Sometimes the orders are huge and we’re here late, other times it’s a bit quieter and we can actually hear ourselves talk. It’s honest work, and we like being part of the local manufacturing scene. People know where to find us if they need hosiery in bulk. It’s just 375 Industrial Area- A, nothing more to it.
