H. J. Knitwear

Purana Bazar is always full of life, and H. J. Knitwear is right in the middle of all that noise and energy. When the weather starts to turn a bit chilly, this whole area gets even more crowded. We have bags of wool and finished sweaters piled up so high you can barely see the back of the room sometimes. The machines we use have been with us for a long time, and they have their own little quirks that only we understand. You have to hit the side of the big one just right to get it started on Monday mornings. Working in the bazar means there’s always someone poking their head in to ask for directions or to see what’s new. It’s not a quiet place to work, but we like the buzz. My hands are usually a bit sore from handling the yarn all day, and there’s lint on every surface you touch. We don’t have a fancy showroom. We just have our workspace where everything happens. Most of the time, it’s just hard work and making sure the patterns are coming out straight. We drink a lot of tea to keep going, especially when we’re staying late to finish a big batch. It’s a simple life here in the old market, and we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves if it was any different. The shop gets a bit drafty in January, but we just put on more layers and keep the machines running.
