Gora Karyana Stores

We run Gora Karyana Stores right on Gill Road. It’s a pretty straightforward grocery shop where we keep all the basic items that families in this area need for their cooking and daily cleaning. We don't have a huge, fancy storefront with big neon signs. It’s just a regular door that stays open all day long. The interior is packed with sacks of grains, sugar, and flour. We try to keep things as organized as possible, though on busy days it can get a little messy with bags being opened and items being weighed out for customers. Gill Road is always busy, so there’s a constant sound of traffic and horns outside, but inside we just focus on the people who come in. We’ve been here for years, and we’ve seen the kids in the neighborhood grow up and start coming in for their own houses now. We don’t do any big advertising or anything like that. Word of mouth is how most people find us, and that seems to work just fine for a place like ours. We don't have a mission statement or any of that corporate talk. We just want to make sure the food we sell is good and that we treat people fairly when they come in to shop. It’s a modest business, but it’s ours, and it keeps us busy from morning to night. Sometimes we run out of things unexpectedly, but we always get more in within a day or two.
