Goldy General Store

The shop is called Goldy General Store and we’ve been stationed here on G.T Road for quite some time now. Number 20 near 80 Feet Road is where you'll find us. It's a busy spot, especially in the mornings when everyone is rushing to get to work and stops by for a quick packet of biscuits or some washing soap. The floor is a bit worn down from all the footsteps over the years, but it holds up okay. I usually get here early to sweep the front and make sure the milk crates are moved inside before the sun gets too high. My brother and I take turns sitting at the front. Scanning machines aren't really our thing; we just use a simple notebook to write things down if someone asks for credit until the end of the month. The shelves are packed tight with everything from tea leaves to light bulbs. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough space for all the things people want us to stock, so we end up stacking boxes in the corners. The traffic on G.T Road never really stops, so there is always a bit of a hum in the background. It gets dusty fast, so I spend a lot of time with a rag wiping down the glass jars of candy. It’s a basic life, just running the store and talking to the neighbors who come in for their daily needs. We’ve seen the kids on this block grow up.
