Our place is tucked away in Kucha Lala Rura Mal, which isn't the easiest spot to find if you aren't from around here. Being near Chowk Mali Ganj means there is always a lot of movement outside. You can hear the rickshaws and the people shouting to each other from morning until we close up at night. The shop isn't huge, but we have enough space for the clothes we keep. Most of the time, we are busy folding things or checking the new stock that comes in. It gets dusty because of the street, so there is always a broom leaning in the corner. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. Just simple racks and a few mirrors on the walls so people can see what they are trying on. Some days the electricity goes out for a bit, and we just sit by the door where the light is better. It is a bit of a maze getting here, especially when the lanes get crowded with carts. But we like the spot. It feels like home after all these years. We know the other shopkeepers nearby, and we usually share some tea in the afternoons when things quiet down for an hour or two. It is just a regular shop doing regular work for the people who live nearby. It is not always perfect but we stay busy enough with our regular customers.
