Nifty Garments

Nifty Garments is located on Chauri Sarak, at B-IX-437. If you know Ludhiana, you know this part of town is tight and always moving. The streets are narrow, and there’s always someone hauling a load of clothes on a cycle or a rickshaw. Our building is old, and we’ve been using this space for quite some time. We mostly focus on making garments, so the sound of sewing machines is the background noise of our lives. It’s not a fancy retail store where things are displayed on glass shelves. Most of our stuff is in big bags or piled up on wooden tables waiting to be stitched or checked for mistakes. We have a few guys who have been working with us for over ten years, so they know exactly how everything runs. Some days the electricity goes out, and we just have to wait it out or use the small generator. It’s a practical kind of business. We don’t spend money on fancy paint or decorations because the clothes take up all the room anyway. Chauri Sarak can be a nightmare to navigate during the day, but we like being in the heart of the garment district. It makes it easier to get buttons, zippers, and thread whenever we run out. It’s a simple setup, nothing more than a place where we get the work done. We hope to stay here for many more years.
