Plaza Shoe Co. is located right in the middle of the rush at Sco - 54 Akal Market in Chaura Bazar. If you’ve ever been to Chaura Bazar, you know how crowded it gets, especially in the evenings. Our shop is packed with boxes from the floor to the ceiling. I’ve been working with shoes for a long time, and I can usually tell someone’s size just by looking at their feet. It’s a skill you pick up when you do this every day. All sorts of footwear are kept here, from sturdy boots to simple sandals for walking around. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack the inventory pretty high. Sometimes a box falls over and we have to reorganize the whole row. It keeps us on our toes. The floor is a bit worn down from all the people walking in and out over the years. We don't see a reason to change it much; it shows we’ve been here a while. My family has always been involved in trade, so this feels natural to me. Opening up early and staying until the market starts to empty out is the daily routine. It gets dusty with the street right there, so we’re always wiping down the displays. We aren't trying to be a high-end boutique. We just sell decent shoes to people who need them. It’s a simple business in a busy place.
