Bittu Patang & General Store

Bittu Patang & General Store is located at shop 355/1 in Ludhiana. We are quite close to Heera Halwai Chowk and just a short walk from Jain School. Because of the name, you can probably guess we sell kites. During the kite flying season, the whole shop is filled with colorful paper and strings. The rest of the year, we function more like a regular general store. We keep things like bread, eggs, and various small household items. The shop is small and the entrance is often crowded with kids looking at the toys or kites we hang up. Ludhiana is a busy place and our corner near the school stays lively. I’ve lived in this area my whole life, so I know most of the parents and teachers. The walls inside could use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to get to it. We have bags and boxes stacked in the back room which we sort through every morning. It gets quite loud during the festivals. I usually have my tea while watching the traffic at the chowk. It’s not a grand business, just a local shop that keeps us busy every day of the week. My son helps me out on the weekends when he is not studying. We try to keep things tidy but the kites take up a lot of space.
