Bhawani General Store

Our place is located at B-10, 443, right on Rehmatullah Road near the Ludhiana railway station. It’s a busy spot, especially being near the Subhani Building and right across from the Guru Sahai Kalsi Machinery Works at Neem Wala Chowk. Because we are so close to the station and the workshops, we get all sorts of people walking in. Some are just passing through and need a bottle of water or some biscuits for their journey, while others are regulars who work in the local factories. The shop stays quite busy with the noise of the machinery and the traffic from the chowk. We have a lot of different things shoved into the space we have. It’s not a big store, so we have to use every inch of the walls. We have basic groceries, some stationery, and things like light bulbs or batteries. The floor is concrete and shows the wear of many boots walking over it. We open early because the workers start their shifts and need stuff before they go in. It can be a bit chaotic when three or four people are asking for different things at once. We don't have a uniform or anything, just us in our regular clothes helping out. The shelves are mostly metal and they rattle a bit when big trucks go by on the road outside. It is just a hardworking part of town and we fit right in. We usually keep a pot of tea behind the counter for ourselves.
