We are located at Plot No. D-97 in the Focal Point area. It’s a standard industrial plot with plenty of space for the machines we run. Focal Point is always buzzing with activity, so there is usually a lot of noise from the neighboring units and the loaders moving through the streets. We spend most of our time out in the shed area where the actual fabrication happens. It’s not a place for clean clothes; there is usually oil and metal dust around. We have a small office section where we keep the drawings and the records, but mostly we are on our feet. The roof is high, which helps keep it cool, but in the summer it still gets quite hot. We’ve got a small crew here and everyone knows their job. We don’t spend much time on the computer unless we are looking at a specific design or checking an order. Most of the day is spent with tools in hand. The gate stays open during working hours for the trucks to back in. We’ve been at this plot for a long time, so we know all the other shop owners nearby. Sometimes we borrow a tool or help each other out with a heavy lift. It’s a straightforward way to earn a living, just making parts and getting them out the door on time.
